South Derbyshire Conservatives are pleased to announce that the new mobile mast in Aston Ward is now fully operational, bringing clearer and more reliable calls to residents across the area.

Cllr Corbin welcomed the news, saying:

“This is a real win for our community. Poor signal has been a long-standing frustration for many residents, and I’m delighted that this new mast is now up and running. Calls should now be clearer and more reliable, helping people to stay connected at home and at work.”

Tackling Indoor Signal Issues

While the new mast is handling call traffic successfully, some residents may still find calls dropping indoors due to walls, trees or local topography. Cllr Corbin added:

“If you’re still experiencing issues indoors, it’s not the mast – but there is an easy solution. By switching on Wi-Fi Calling, you can transform the reliability of your calls.”

How to enable Wi-Fi Calling:

  • iPhone: Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling → Toggle ON and follow the instructions
  • Android: Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs → Select your SIM → Enable Wi-Fi Calling

This feature is secure, uses no additional data, and ensures calls are as dependable as your morning coffee.

Looking Ahead

With EE already benefiting from the mast, the focus now shifts to other providers such as 3 and O2. South Derbyshire Conservatives will continue pressing for these networks to come on board so that all residents can enjoy the same improved coverage.

Cllr Corbin concluded:

“This is a positive step forward, but we won’t stop here. I’ll continue working with providers to ensure Aston Ward residents get the mobile coverage they deserve.”
