Conservative Councillors push for Council Tax Freeze

From Cllr Dan Corbin (Conservative Group Leader - SDDC)

Last night I put forward an alternative budget for South Derbyshire. This budget was focused around a council tax freeze in the year 2025/2026 continued over a further 2 years.

It is time, as I said last night at South Derbyshire District Council, to give people a break; and this is one area we can give people a break in as all other tax matters are for central government.

There was no need to increase council tax, with alternative ways to balance the budget presented. Frankly a council tax increase by an organisation who have millions in reserve is not what we need.
