South Derbyshire Conservatives were delighted to welcome the Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP, Leader of the Conservative Party, to Melbourne yesterday evening as part of her campaign tour. The visit brought energy and momentum to the local election effort, with residents and supporters turning out to meet the new Party Leader and hear her vision for the future.
Kemi Badenoch’s visit was focused on showing strong support for David Muller, the local Conservative candidate for Melbourne & Woodville division in the upcoming Derbyshire County Council elections taking place on 1st May. David has been working hard in the community, listening to local concerns and setting out his priorities, which include improving local services, supporting families, and ensuring value for money for council taxpayers.
Speaking at the event, Badenoch praised Muller’s commitment to South Derbyshire and highlighted the importance of electing strong Conservative voices at county level. “Local government plays a vital role in people’s everyday lives,” she said, “and I am proud to stand alongside candidates like David who are dedicated to delivering for their communities.”
David Muller expressed his gratitude for the Leader’s visit and reaffirmed his determination to represent local people with energy and integrity. “It was an honour to welcome Kemi Badenoch to Melbourne and to share with her the issues that matter most to our residents. I am committed to working hard for our area and ensuring South Derbyshire continues to thrive,” he said.
The evening was well-attended by local party members and supporters, who welcomed the opportunity to meet both their candidate and the Party Leader. The event underscored the Conservatives’ ambition to strengthen their representation on Derbyshire County Council and to continue delivering practical solutions for local communities.
With just days left to go before polling day, the visit has given the South Derbyshire Conservative campaign a significant boost.
