Dan was first elected to South Derbyshire District Council on 2 May 2019, representing Aston Ward which covers the communities of Ambaston, Aston on Trent, Barrow upon Trent, Boulton Moor, Elvaston, Shardlow and Great Wilne, Swarkestone, Thulston and Weston on Trent. Since then, he has been proud to serve local residents and speak up for the communities he represents.
He was elected Leader of the South Derbyshire District Council Conservative Group in 2023 and became Chairman of South Derbyshire Conservative Association in June 2025. A committed Conservative, Dan is passionate about putting the Party’s case forward to residents across South Derbyshire and building a strong, active local Association.
Dan has lived in South Derbyshire for more than two decades, having been born in Liverpool. He has three young children who are educated in the district, giving him a strong personal connection to local schools, families and community life.
Professionally, Dan spent 15 years working in senior roles within the pharmaceutical industry, including a number of years running his own recruitment business in the sector. He is also a dedicated volunteer football coach at Hilton Harriers FC, coaching three age groups, and is an FA-qualified coach. He is now moving into football coaching full-time, opening a coaching franchise for young people from 6 months to 19 years old.
