Jim Hewlett is a graduate of Reading University and has lived in Melbourne since 1971. He is a retired timber merchant with two adult sons and was first elected in 2007. He has greatly enjoyed representing the people of Melbourne, Kings Newton and Stanton by Bridge.
He is currently the Chairman of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee at the Council and was formerly the Chairman of Housing and Community Services. He is also a member of the Licensing and Appeals Sub-Committee.
In the community. Jim is on the Boards of Citizens Advice and the South Derbyshire Mental Health Association who run a drop-in centre in Swadlincote. He also chairs the executive meetings of the Rosliston Forestry Centre and the Environmental Education Project there.
